Pacific Allied Products is a zero-waste company, reprocessing clean scrap material into new products. Building on the success of its internal recycling program, the company developed a program to collect and recycle as much EPS foam as possible. As a result, Pacific Allied Products has partnered in joint recycling efforts with Servco Home & Appliance Distribution and C.S. Wo, two local companies that use large amounts of EPS foam, to ensure the safe shipping of their products to Hawaii. Pacific Allied recycles the waste by compacting the EPS using high-volume extruder technology. Once the EPS is ground up and heated, it dramatically shrinks to just a little over one percent of its previous volume. The result is a compact material that can then be converted into useful products such as cafeteria trays, rulers, desktop accessories, picture frames, hangers and more.
